Batch output to image formats
« le: avril 20, 2018, 01:46:46 13 »
(first off, I love a registration program for Linux/Ubuntu).

Would it be possible to implement a batch output all the images in a sequence to image formats, such as .tif, rather than having to go through the list of images in the sequence and outputting each one individually?  I am using Siril to register wide field landscape images, in some instances, I need to use a third party program to mask out foreground and clouds after preprocessing but before registration.  Right now I'm using Imagemagick to apply a mask, and working with .fits in Imagemagick is not so easy, so I prefer to output the files from Siril as tifs.

As a corollary, one reason that I must apply a mask, is that I run into difficulties registering images using the "match stars in selection" option after selecting a rectangular patch of sky- this usually results in a failure to register, but if I supply Siril with an image with everything but that same rectangular patch set to 0, registration is fine.

Before and after Siril (plus some other processing)  https://photos.smugmug.com/photos/i-TvhSMxs/0/cb5b6954/XL/i-TvhSMxs-XL.png

Could you share 5-6 RAW images in order I try the registration.

yes, I can supply a couple of raw images that were troublesome.

After conversion, if I try to register the whole image, the light pollution dominates and registration finishes without error, but the starfield is not aligned.  If select a box around the darker starfield and select "match stars in selection" , registration fails with "cannot perform star matching".

If i convert to tif, and mask out all but the darker starfield, registration succeeds.

Where can I upload the raw files?

Ah, ok.  I thought you might have a dedicated FTP server.

This should work, let me know if it doesn't.

the stars above the heavy light pollution are sufficient to register the images, if I mask out the light pollution and foreground lights.  If I simply select the same area with a selection box in the image preview, registration fails.

Hi Janet,

I updated the forum parameters, it is now possible to upload 5 files of 10 MB per post

Hello.

I've fixed the code. In the next version you'll be able to align images using sky selection.
I've tested it, it works.

Yeah, with 0.9.9 align using selection works, so I can select the lower light pollution areas for registration (would it be possible to implement a polygon selection?  The light pollution is often dome shaped).

But, Analysis-Dynamic PSF window always crashes and program closes a few seconds after selecting the 'detect stars' button.  In 0.9.8 it worked fine.

Yes I've already fixed it today.
Sorry
